I have always loved the St. Patrick's Day holiday. To me it was a fun day full of interesting traditions, entertaining parades, and yummy food....and the color green. As an adult I have learned that I have a little bit of Irish in my family heritage so it also became a day for me to understand more about the Irish history and traditions. Now that it is towards the end of January, in Europe carnival season is about to begin. Living in Italy for nearly 4 years and being in close proximity to Venice, gave me a chance to see Carnevale at it's best. If anybody is around Venice during this season you should definitely give it a go. Venice is fabulous in itself, it truly is a very unique city, but during Carnevale the city comes to a bright and energetic life that only is seen at this time.

December's photo actually comes from a little snow boarding adventure we had in the Italian Alps. Near the city of Cortina, Italy lies the slopes of ski-able mountains that are beautiful and enjoyed by many skiers and snowboarders alike.

It was from a recent visit to castle in the Moselle River area in central Germany. Burg Eltz is an amazing German castle. It is beautiful and well preserved. Look Up at Marksburg Castle
One of things I love about traveling around Germany is visiting all the castles. I call it "castle hunting". I am determined to see as many castles as I can while I am here in Germany. After doing some research, I found Marksburg Castle on list to visit not too far from Frankfurt. I found their website and planned out a day trip with a friend. This amazing castle was very worth the visit.

Grand Canal at Night
The first time I arrived in Venice after hopping off the train and walking down the steps outside the train station, I was in awe of this beautiful city. It was love at first sight. My husband was right there falling in love with it as well. As you can imagine I took a lot of photos that first trip. We spent the whole day there, walking through the streets, crossing the bridges, enjoying gelato, and a score of other things we enjoyed there.
