With the ending of February I have also finished 8 weeks of my 52 week photography challenge. This month I have challenged myself by taking winter themed outdoor photos. This is challenging for me because I haven't taken a whole lot of outdoor photos of snow and winter. It is not because I don't like them, I think snow pictures can be really beautiful, but I tend to not want to go exploring in the snow. So I often just don't do it. Well now that January is almost over I have completed 4 weeks of my 52 week photography challenge. For these first 4 weeks I have focused my attention on still life photography. Now that it is towards the end of January, in Europe carnival season is about to begin. Living in Italy for nearly 4 years and being in close proximity to Venice, gave me a chance to see Carnevale at it's best. If anybody is around Venice during this season you should definitely give it a go. Venice is fabulous in itself, it truly is a very unique city, but during Carnevale the city comes to a bright and energetic life that only is seen at this time.

Encouraged by a local group of photographers who are doing this year long challenge, I decided this would be a great idea to push myself to be more creative this year. 2015 is going to be a goal year for me. Part of that is continuing through this whole year in offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month. January 2015's calendar is from a trip I took in January 2014 to the beautiful city of Heidelberg, Germany. One of my favorite cities in Germany so far. It features a beautiful downtown area with great buildings and atmosphere, a historic walking bridge, and an interesting castle nestled on the hill above with a great view of the city.
