Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I'm offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month. April's calendar is featuring the beautiful yellow fields full of rape seed flowers that fill the German landscape in April.
One of my favorite parts about living in Germany is that every spring in April the yellow fields full of the bright rape seed flowers bloom. I am so excited to see them bloom for a third year, I love going out and photographing them as much as I can, because they don't last more than a month usually. They […]
I have always loved the St. Patrick's Day holiday. To me it was a fun day full of interesting traditions, entertaining parades, and yummy food....and the color green. As an adult I have learned that I have a little bit of Irish in my family heritage so it also became a day for me to understand more about the Irish history and traditions. A couple of years ago I had the chance to travel to Ireland for St. Patrick's Day. It was amazing.
In planning the trip I wondered, "Isn't St. Patrick's Day more of an Irish American thing?" Well […]
Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I'm offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month. March's calendar features a photo I took during my travels to Ireland. It is from the Gardens of Powerscourt mansion with the beautiful hills of Wicklow County behind them.
I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Ireland a while back and was able to be in Dublin for the big St. Patrick's Day parade. It was an amazing trip for me, partially because I have some Irish in my heritage and partly because it felt so amazing just to be […]
With the ending of February I have also finished 8 weeks of my 52 week photography challenge. This month I have challenged myself by taking winter themed outdoor photos. This is challenging for me because I haven't taken a whole lot of outdoor photos of snow and winter. It is not because I don't like them, I think snow pictures can be really beautiful, but I tend to not want to go exploring in the snow. So I often just don't do it. I made myself this month to go outside during winter.
Week 5's photo I really wanted to […]
Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I'm offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month. February's calendar is from a night photography shoot I did in Venice, Italy. It features the largest bridge in Venice and a well known historical landmark, the Rialto Bridge.
I chose this photo for February's calendar because when I think of February two things come to mind: Carnevale and Valentine's Day. I recently wrote a post all about how fabulous visiting Venice during Carnevale can be, you can read it here. This brought to mind the city of Venice. After visiting […]
Well now that January is almost over I have completed 4 weeks of my 52 week photography challenge. For these first 4 weeks I have focused my attention on still life photography. With each week I have photographed an object in different styles challenging myself to do the same genre of photography but in 4 different ways.
Week 1's photo I have already talked about in detail in my post entitled: A New Year, A New Challenge. Here I talked about this challenge in general and my photography for the first week. That style is more of an in-movement portrait-esque photo of […]
Now that it is towards the end of January, in Europe carnival season is about to begin. Living in Italy for nearly 4 years and being in close proximity to Venice, gave me a chance to see Carnevale at it's best. If anybody is around Venice during this season you should definitely give it a go. Venice is fabulous in itself, it truly is a very unique city, but during Carnevale the city comes to a bright and energetic life that only is seen at this time.

The majority of what most people photograph are people and pets. Whether they are using a professional camera, a point and shoot, or their phone cameras, most people take photos of their friends, family, kids, and pets. So I put together a small list of helpful tips to help you improve your photos with this subject matter.
Tips for taking better photos of people/pets:
Move in closer to the subject – cut out all the noise and background distractions. Even move the subject (if you can) to be in front of a more simple background.
Even though there is a […]
My 52 week photography challenge
This year I have several goals in mind for my photography and my business. One of those goals for this year is doing a 52 week photography challenge. Encouraged by a local group of photographers who are doing this year long challenge, I decided this would be a great idea to push myself to be more creative this year. So every week in 2015 I will be doing a new photo and posting it to the world. I will be sharing them on my facebook page and other social media. I will be also creating a page with these images on my website […]
2015 is going to be a goal year for me. Part of that is continuing through this whole year in offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month. January 2015's calendar is from a trip I took in January 2014 to the beautiful city of Heidelberg, Germany. One of my favorite cities in Germany so far. It features a beautiful downtown area with great buildings and atmosphere, a historic walking bridge, and an interesting castle nestled on the hill above with a great view of the city.
This photo featured for the calendar is from one of […]
