A Bit of Macro Fun

A little while ago a fellow photographer friend of mine showed me how fun macro photography can be. She showed me some tips on how I can really have some fun with it. So as I have been traveling around and out and about with my camera, I have been exploring macro photography with several subjects. It has been fun exploring the world around me in this different light.

I have really grown to love this type of photography. It gives me a way to focus on details and create new images out ordinary subjects that can abstract and make things more interesting. I would encourage any photographer to try something new, whether it be macro photography or another type they haven’t tried yet to give it a try. It might be the best way to give your creativity a jump start.

Flowers are an easy subject to do macro with, they are so beautiful and interesting when you get up close. But try any subject, bring it in and try different lighting and positioning. Exploring every angle, even close up, can change how you see an object. For me, playing with what part is in focus completely changes the photo.

These two images are from the same Blue Passion Flower I found out on a camera walk. I “walked” all around the flower and played with the focus and different parts. An observer could or could not tell that this is the same flower but for sure they are entirely different photos.
