Taking photos of your children or even anybody’s child is often difficult, especially when they are very young. Sometimes it takes more than just having patience. So today’s photography tip is three ways to improve the photos you take of your children.
- Don’t use a flash – the on camera flash is harsh lighting and can scare some children. Set your camera settings so you don’t need the extra light or move closer to a window or light source if you need more lighting.
- Follow them around – you can get more natural photos of your child if you let them do their own thing and follow them around while they are playing or walking. The “perfect” shot will happen eventually. If you have a specific place you want the photo taken, bring a few toys along.
- Only have one person get their attention – if you want them to look at the camera, especially in a portrait or multi-person photograph, only have one person work on getting their attention. Too many adults talking to them will have them looking all over.
- Get down to their level – when you get down to their eye level they have more visual importance and even improve the lighting and focus.
