Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I’m offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month.
November’s calendar is from a small German city.
Autumn time is beautiful here in Germany, with all of it’s colorful trees and hills. This beautiful view is of Idar-Oberstein. A small city with a mountain that has a church built right into the rock called the Felsenkirche and a castle atop of it. From this church is where I photographed this sight of the city. The clock tower on the left houses the bells the ring in the hour.
Idar-Oberstein actually has a few sites to offer any visitor. Besides the Felsenkirche and the castle, the city also boasts a gem mine that you can even tour. One of the few, I’m told, in Europe that is open to the public. All over the city you find stones and stone work of beautiful craftsmanship. It was definitely worth a day trip or two.
