Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I’m offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month.
August 2015’s calendar is featuring Hohenschwangau castle surrounded in it’s beautiful scenery.
Last month I remarked: “One thing that I have learned and love about Germany is that it is covered in castles! I love exploring around Germany and finding them in all shapes and sizes.” Well this month is also featuring a beautiful castle. This one is located in the Bavarian Alps in Southern Germany. This is a slightly different view because it is viewed from above where you can see it’s beautiful surroundings, the lake, mountains, and forest. Located not far from Garmish and very near another very famous German castle (Neuschwanstein), sometimes this castle gets overlooked.
This one features some of my favorite castle architecture. Built as a hunting castle for King Ludwig of Bavaria, it is in a prime location. The interior is also quite charming and I found the tour there quite enjoyable. It was actually more interesting to me than the one at Neuschwanstein, even though that one is a bigger castle. I would definitely recommend a visit but book your tickets in advance.
