Continuing through this whole year of 2015, I’m offering my free downloadable desktop wallpaper calendars of my artwork every month.
The image for July’s calendar is featuring the Boosenburg Castle.
One thing that I have learned and love about Germany is that it is covered in castles! I love exploring around Germany and finding them in all shapes and sizes. Boosenburg Castle is a small castle in the town of Rüdesheim. It really isn’t much more than its 12th century tower and 19th century residence but it is still beautiful with its “front yard” full of grape vines. It is also the only castle (so far) that I have seen that is waving a Harley-Davidson flag.
Rüdesheim is a lovely town right on the Rhine river in the Rheinland-Pfalz region of Germany. The hillside is covered in vineyards, there is a big monument on the hillside, and the town is full of charm and life. It is also a great place for buying wine or taking a river cruise. I really enjoyed walking the streets, enjoying some local cuisine, taking in the views, and even the little medieval torture museum. Definitely some where I will go back for another visit to and see some more of the other castles and views in this area.
