With the ending of February I have also finished 8 weeks of my 52 week photography challenge. This month I have challenged myself by taking winter themed outdoor photos. This is challenging for me because I haven’t taken a whole lot of outdoor photos of snow and winter. It is not because I don’t like them, I think snow pictures can be really beautiful, but I tend to not want to go exploring in the snow. So I often just don’t do it. I made myself this month to go outside during winter.
Week 5’s photo I really wanted to make snow one of the most important elements of the photo. I found a field covered in snow and photographed it as the sun started to set to really show off the texture.
Week 6’s photo I wanted to have a scene where the snow was very apparent but there was more to it than snow. I photographed this German village with its hills and houses covered in snow. This is very much all about winter in Germany.
Week 7’s photo was a bit challenging because the snow had melted. So I woke up early one morning and found a little piece of ice clinging to a branch on a bush. It also gave me a chance to do a macro winter photo. I also love this photo because I was able to do a more warm colored photo of winter instead most of them being more cooler toned.
Week 8’s photo I was lucky and it snowed one more time so I really went out of my way and ventured out to a nearby castle to make one more winter photo. In this photo I wanted the main subject to not be snow but more be decorated or changed by it. This one was really fun for me because I have photographed this castle in other seasons and I love that it has a completely different look.
