February’s calendar is from a night photography shoot I did in Venice, Italy. It features the largest bridge in Venice and a well known historical landmark, the Rialto Bridge.

I chose this photo for February’s calendar because when I think of February two things come to mind: Carnevale and Valentine’s Day. I recently wrote a post all about how fabulous visiting Venice during Carnevale can be, you can read it here. This brought to mind the city of Venice. After visiting this city several times, I can honestly say that it is very romantic, especially at night. These two reasons are why I chose Venice, it combines my thoughts of the two events and the Rialto Bridge is a strong symbol of this beautiful city.

Last summer I visited Venice again and was able to photograph it at night, you can read that article here, and photographed this amazing site at night. To me this is one of the cities treasures. Visiting the city at night brings a whole new life to the city. If you are there late enough, there is only locals out and about and the city becomes really quiet. As a city that gets millions of visitors from all over the world every year, this is quite an experience because it differs so much from the hustle and bustle of the day time.

Now I will always recommend a visit to Venice because I have been more times than I have fingers and toes to count on but every time I find something new to see and explore. It is always an enjoyable experience. It truly is a one of a kind city, nothing like it in the whole world.
